Sara Fine-Wilson creates contemporary ceramic sculpture that uses gesture to explore balance and tension. Individual parts are extruded, handbuilt, and wheel formed then connected into a cohesive whole. Her work has mechanical and organic qualities that refer to the body, to archeology, and to architectural structures such as arches or bridges. Cracks, rupture, splitting, and ooze visually articulate the passing of time. Embedded objects and the use of atmospheric firing speak literally and metaphorically about visual history in a process that balances intention with intuition.

 She attended The Maryland Institute college of Art, Massachusetts College of Art and the University of the arts in Philadelphia. She spent a year as a resident artist at The Worcester Center for Crafts. She currently teaches ceramics and design. Her work has been shown in many galleries and museums including the Fitchburg Art Museum and the Danforth Museum of Art. She is a Core member of the Fountain Street Gallery in Boston, MA where her work is exhibited regularly.
